Capturing the magic and the love between parents and their children always feels like a magnificent accomplishment; something that is extremely special to me. Love: Jo xoxo #joanneschwindt #torontophotograph #childphotographer #torontolife #familyphotographer #familyportraits #family
5 years-old and a new 3 month old puppy-- I didn't doubt that my heart would fall completely in love with these two. I met this beautiful family a few weeks ago and we had so much fun together. Photo sessions that leave me glowing afterward are my favourite. This family shared some time with me a few weeks ago, and in our short time together I witnessed so much love. Here are a few images from this lovely session. When I hold my camera and photograph families, these moments mean as much to me as they will for them- the family in the frame. I know this for certain because I can feel it in my heart when the shutter opens and then closes. Mark, Jess, Everly and Easton have been in front of my camera now for almost 4 years, and even before they began their family together I photographed moments during some significant milestones. I am lucky that they have invited me, time and time again in
This was our first time meeting one another. Michelle, Paulo, Eila and I. Maybe it's just me, but these people carried so much love for each other and it showed through in these windows of time I had the honour of capturing. I had a wonderful experience photographing this family. Thank you to The Branco Family. I created a short video of our session together. Here are a few of my favourite moments. From our session. #familyphotographer #familyportraits #familyphotography #fam
I was welcomed into the operating room this past March. My first c-section birth. I was nervous. I wanted to be sure I captured everything for this family. Watching them sign the papers before admittance. Seeing them prepare to meet their new family member. Hearing them laugh about the predicted weight and sex. I felt nothing but honoured. Not only was I hired by this family because they love my work, but they told me that my presence calmed them. I am lucky to call this fami
I find myself imagining a lot. I try to put what I imagine into fruition when I can. This year, as I turned 39 years of age, I decided to document my days beginning from day 1: turning 39, until day 365: turning 40 years old. This project consists of a photo a day coupled with a quote that inspires me. Each photograph, I have captured, and the quotes, I have collected. Both spark something in me. Along with this spark I have to admit that I have a difficult time turning the f
We found out a few weeks ago and kept things hush. We finally got the okay and are doing a dance of joy! Mark, Jess and Evie are expecting a new little person early next year! Baby #2! A couple of weeks ago I was welcomed into their lives, camera-ready to capture loving moments. Here are a few from the series. I look forward to posting more images of Jess' growing belly, this baby's birth and onward.
How lucky we all are to know this kind of love. Thank you, M + J for allow
It was Mother's Day when we told everyone that we were expecting our third child. We announced it with this photograph above. This photograph used to announce our pregnancy was taken right after we told our children that they were going to have a new baby. They were overjoyed and from that day forward they kissed my belly everyday until their baby sister arrived. My husband and I thought about having a third baby for sometime. It seemed to make sense that having two healthy c
It seemed as though we waited for this little beauty for a long time. All of us anticipating her healthy arrival. Doug, Amy and Bea couldn't wait to meet Daphne, and neither could I. I have realized that with each pregnancy a woman grows wiser to the risks involved. She grows to truly appreciate the miracle that is a healthy life. We know how intricate our human body is and when we think about a woman's body making an actual life that works perfectly it can be overwhelming.
Upon arrival, camera ready, these sisters where ready for their photo shoot. The anticipation of seeing one another was evident. These two beautiful souls last met in person 4 years prior. Not only were they excited to see one another, but Kymberley was excited to finally introduce her sister to her son, Ira. Meeting their nephew for the first time, Stephanie and Micheal simply fell in love. As well, Ira was all cuddles with his Aunt and Uncle and his new baby cousin soon to
A cake smash photo session is a ton of fun for everyone involved. These photos are the ones I captured outside of our formal photo shoot. The formal cake smash photos will be uploaded soon. Lifestyle photography is my favourite because it's never the same. It was a true delight to watch this family be themselves while I documented. The love shared between this family is so clear. Watching Mark, Jess and Everly interact in so many situations, big and small, one can only feel i
Growing and changing is what we do. It happens so fast with kids that it's almost difficult to believe they were ever babies. As adults we change subtly but it happens. As my photography work changes and I grow alongside my many photo sessions, this family has too. The Irwin's were one of the very first families I photographed when I began thinking seriously about taking my photography to a client based level. Their character, charisma and wonderful openess welcomed me in 5 y
Celebrating your 40th wedding anniversary must be a very rich time. Watching and experiencing my parents during their 40th Anniversary was a true gift for me. Walking down the same aisle they did 40 years prior to renew their vows, listening to them speak about the stories of their wedding 40 years ago, watching them dance, cut their cake, and most especially watching the two of the together was beautiful. A family is something of true beauty in any variation. We have all gro
The more challenging a photo session, the more surprised I am at the results. Once my photo sessions are over, I have mixed feelings about how they went. I am never really certain until I am at the editing table. I always take a few days before looking at my work, and before I begin the editing process. I feel that those days allow me some space, and I am able to seperate myself from the experience. I then have more of an objective eye when looking back at the photos I've cat
The variations of a wish are of many. The variations of a family are too. Capturing photos of these two people during our photo session together, in front of the wishing fountain, watching them converse back and forth, I could see their wish had already come true. When I began this photo session, I was intrigued initally by Shelley's story. I knew bits and pieces, but once our photo session was over not only did I get to know two beautfiul ladies, but also a story that confir
As a photographer, working alongside your clients milestones is one of the most incredible experiences. The experience of seeing the changes in love strengthen and how much each of my clients grow within their family life, not only outwardly but also inwardly is wonderful. How their children enhance their life experiences by creating an immense bond within the family circle they are a part of always moves me beyond what words can articluate. This is the very reason I love my
I love that I get to walk into various wonderful family homes and capture their life, truthfully as it were during that moment in time. I know that when they look back at the photographs I've captured a few months after I've been there, or a year after I've been there and longer, their emotions change with each glance, each memory. I know this because when I look back at my own photos my feelings change based on how long it's been since that photograph was taken. I have to sa
