Hailey and Annabelle, a perfect beginning to any story I believe. I was welcomed into their home to document a more personal session and oh, what fun we had. I love photographing in my clients homes or personal romping ground, it evokes such a calm and real emotion. I was introduced to Cadence a few weeks ago, and it was confirmed, sweetness arrived into this beautiful family's home. Meghan, Scott and Paisley radiate love, patience and kindness. It only makes sense that this little person they have welcomed into their world matches this sweet dance; this beautiful melody of love. Welcome to the world Cadence. And thank you, Meghan, Scott and Paisley for introducing me to some of the sweetest little people I have ever met. Love: Jo xoxo #
Lynnette is one of those beautiful souls who humbles your heart and radiates inspiration. One of the most inspiring woman I've met, she, along with her husband and 3 children carry such strength and creativity. If you ask Lynnette about the projects she creates and takes on, she will tell you "that it's for fun", and when you look at the movement and the beauty in each of her ideas, each of her design pieces, the idea of fun is very apparent coupled with gorgeous layers and a
If you know me, or if you've just happen upon my blog, you will know that I truly love Hallowe'en. It is my favourite time of the year. Dressing up. Being extra-creative and eating candy! I find Hallowe'en brings so much cool beauty into the framework. Everyone is just having fun, being funny, or scary. No rules. No expectations. This year my husband and I were knights protecting our Snow Queen, her snow leopard and the castle's dragon. The Snow Leopard costume was made using
I was welcomed into the operating room this past March. My first c-section birth. I was nervous. I wanted to be sure I captured everything for this family. Watching them sign the papers before admittance. Seeing them prepare to meet their new family member. Hearing them laugh about the predicted weight and sex. I felt nothing but honoured. Not only was I hired by this family because they love my work, but they told me that my presence calmed them. I am lucky to call this fami
Off of Airport Road in Mulmur, Ontario an hour and a bit outside of Toronto you can find The Mitchell Family Farm. A place that ethically raises Berkshire pigs. When visiting The Mitchell Family Farm, not only are you greeted by Berkshire pigs who are thriving in their happy home, but you can find rows of apple trees which feed the pigs, strawberry bushes, a large garlic plantation and if that isn't enough, along their gorgeous property you are not only greeted by the friendl
Last year at this time I was my most pregnant and at 6:53 p.m. our Joy was born. Our third baby delivered at home. Her birth happened within a 45 minute window. My husband watched as I felt my body begin to push her outside of me, involuntarily. It was a surreal experience. My husband and I were both scared and excited. Scared because the labour was happening out of our own control and my midwives had not yet arrived, and excited to finally hold our newest love in-arms. Our
Love is truly a beautiful thing. Last month I had the pleasure of photographing Jackie and Aaron's wedding. Here are a few of the incredible moments I had the honour of being a part of. Congratulations again Jackie + Aaron. Love: Jo xoxo #joanneschiwndtphotography #weddingphotographer #wedding #torontophotographer #lifestyle
Weddings are beautiful.
Hearing people share their vows in front of their family and friends camera-ready is wonderful. This past August I was hired for a beautiful wedding.
Lesia and Leon celebrated their love at Toronto's Caffino Restaurant. These photos are a few of the cherished memories I was a part of. #wedding #weddingphotographer #torontophotographer #lifestyle #lifephotography #weddings #joanneschiwndtphotography
It was Mother's Day when we told everyone that we were expecting our third child. We announced it with this photograph above. This photograph used to announce our pregnancy was taken right after we told our children that they were going to have a new baby. They were overjoyed and from that day forward they kissed my belly everyday until their baby sister arrived. My husband and I thought about having a third baby for sometime. It seemed to make sense that having two healthy c
It seemed as though we waited for this little beauty for a long time. All of us anticipating her healthy arrival. Doug, Amy and Bea couldn't wait to meet Daphne, and neither could I. I have realized that with each pregnancy a woman grows wiser to the risks involved. She grows to truly appreciate the miracle that is a healthy life. We know how intricate our human body is and when we think about a woman's body making an actual life that works perfectly it can be overwhelming.
Upon arrival, camera ready, these sisters where ready for their photo shoot. The anticipation of seeing one another was evident. These two beautiful souls last met in person 4 years prior. Not only were they excited to see one another, but Kymberley was excited to finally introduce her sister to her son, Ira. Meeting their nephew for the first time, Stephanie and Micheal simply fell in love. As well, Ira was all cuddles with his Aunt and Uncle and his new baby cousin soon to
A cake smash photo session is a ton of fun for everyone involved. These photos are the ones I captured outside of our formal photo shoot. The formal cake smash photos will be uploaded soon. Lifestyle photography is my favourite because it's never the same. It was a true delight to watch this family be themselves while I documented. The love shared between this family is so clear. Watching Mark, Jess and Everly interact in so many situations, big and small, one can only feel i
Growing and changing is what we do. It happens so fast with kids that it's almost difficult to believe they were ever babies. As adults we change subtly but it happens. As my photography work changes and I grow alongside my many photo sessions, this family has too. The Irwin's were one of the very first families I photographed when I began thinking seriously about taking my photography to a client based level. Their character, charisma and wonderful openess welcomed me in 5 y
Celebrating your 40th wedding anniversary must be a very rich time. Watching and experiencing my parents during their 40th Anniversary was a true gift for me. Walking down the same aisle they did 40 years prior to renew their vows, listening to them speak about the stories of their wedding 40 years ago, watching them dance, cut their cake, and most especially watching the two of the together was beautiful. A family is something of true beauty in any variation. We have all gro
