I got the best response from this lovely family when I sent them an email letting them know it was lovely meeting them after our photo session. They told me that the miniature toy camel I had given to their son transformed into a dragon and now their son giggled every time they asked him about it. I smiled from ear to ear when I read this. I find the connections that happen during my photography sessions as special as the moments I preserve for the people I am photographing.
Paisley's baby sister is soon to arrive. Here are a few images from my maternity session with Meghan, Scott and Paisley. I adore these people. This was our first time meeting one another. Michelle, Paulo, Eila and I. Maybe it's just me, but these people carried so much love for each other and it showed through in these windows of time I had the honour of capturing. I had a wonderful experience photographing this family. Thank you to The Branco Family. I created a short video of our session together. Here are a few of my favourite moments. From our session. #familyphotographer #familyportraits #familyphotography #fam
A few years back I had the pleasure of photographing this family's first pregnancy. Last month, with my personal assistant in tow (my 7 year old daughter) I was able to capture these wonderful moments for Gabrielle and Troy as they await their beautiful baby #2. I look forward to meeting this baby very soon. I've documented photographs of these students prior to their one year showcase and I was taken back by the absolute passion and skill of these dancers. Their teachers are nothing short of impressive. When I walked into The Dance Loft I was greeted with a warm welcome, a professional nature and an excitement for dance. Most of all I felt that the expression of honouring the "self" within the world of dance lives here, at the Dance Loft. If you follow this link it will take you
I was welcomed into the operating room this past March. My first c-section birth. I was nervous. I wanted to be sure I captured everything for this family. Watching them sign the papers before admittance. Seeing them prepare to meet their new family member. Hearing them laugh about the predicted weight and sex. I felt nothing but honoured. Not only was I hired by this family because they love my work, but they told me that my presence calmed them. I am lucky to call this fami
The Arts, for me, is where my deepest passions live. Something moves me and then something is created and I am changed, yet still the same. When my children and I visited these Winter Stations along Toronto's East end located on the lakeshore this past March, the beach was the same of course, but it was also very different. These installations really resonated with us. They not only created a lot of conversation and exploration between my children and I, but each one created
It seemed as though we waited for this little beauty for a long time. All of us anticipating her healthy arrival. Doug, Amy and Bea couldn't wait to meet Daphne, and neither could I. I have realized that with each pregnancy a woman grows wiser to the risks involved. She grows to truly appreciate the miracle that is a healthy life. We know how intricate our human body is and when we think about a woman's body making an actual life that works perfectly it can be overwhelming.
Growing and changing is what we do. It happens so fast with kids that it's almost difficult to believe they were ever babies. As adults we change subtly but it happens. As my photography work changes and I grow alongside my many photo sessions, this family has too. The Irwin's were one of the very first families I photographed when I began thinking seriously about taking my photography to a client based level. Their character, charisma and wonderful openess welcomed me in 5 y
Halloween is always a huge event at our house and every year it's confirmed, we live in a great neighbourhood. Everyone loves Halloween and it shows. Our neighbourhood hums in Halloween cheer and it's not just the kids. Adults get right into it too, dressed up, dancing on their front porch or on the sidewalk as thematic music blares, each of them looking forward to seeing all of the Halloween goers awaiting their trick or their treat. There is an overall feeling of pure joy
The more challenging a photo session, the more surprised I am at the results. Once my photo sessions are over, I have mixed feelings about how they went. I am never really certain until I am at the editing table. I always take a few days before looking at my work, and before I begin the editing process. I feel that those days allow me some space, and I am able to seperate myself from the experience. I then have more of an objective eye when looking back at the photos I've cat
I love that I get to walk into various wonderful family homes and capture their life, truthfully as it were during that moment in time. I know that when they look back at the photographs I've captured a few months after I've been there, or a year after I've been there and longer, their emotions change with each glance, each memory. I know this because when I look back at my own photos my feelings change based on how long it's been since that photograph was taken. I have to sa
What a sweet little bundle of joy. Truly. This little lady was a ture treasure to capture and might I add, highly cooperative! Surrounded by so much love from Mum, Dad, sister, Grandma and Grandpa this little beauty truly felt embraced by all of the love that surrounded her. And, lucky me, I got to capture these beautiful fresh new moments. Thank you again, Ian, Annie, Norah, Claire and family, for welcoming me into your new life only 4 days new! Welcome Claire.
